Paleo Diet
Some people who frequent a blog I read now and then have been raving about the Paleo Diet. The premise is that you only eat food pre-agriculture--meat and root vegetables mostly. You can't eat anything that is toxic in its raw state--so while root vegetables in general are OK, taters are not.
Let me say this about that. I would rather hack off my own forearms and attach my hands to my elbows than live without pasta.

So, um... meat counts as not being "toxic in its raw state"? No potatoes but it's okay to gnaw on a side of beef? And see, I made an excuse to say "side of beef"! Of course I had to read about this--I love that some sites that call it "Neaderthin". And I have just a little concern about a website that feels the need to warm me against eating "pork rind flour". Blecch - have no fear on that account, I'll steer well clear. Also an interesting point that hunter-gatherers have a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease. Assuming this person really means hunting and gathering, not being picky at Wholefoods, I shouldn't wonder if they're expending so much energy daily just to get enough to eat.
